Ecosystem Conservation

Our ecosystem conservation curriculum teaches trainees to leverage a range of environmental indicators to evaluate the health of vulnerable ecosystems, with a particular focus on coastal and tropical forests. Lessons include:

  • Evaluating Net Primary Productivity and forest degradation in the World Database on Protected Areas

  • Calculating sea level rise impacts on coastal mangrove ecosystems

  • Evaluating the location and displacement of forest-proximate communities in highly vulnerable ecosystems of interest

  • Using the RESOLVE Ecoregions dataset to evaluate the relative level of nature recovery
