We’re distributing cutting-edge satellite tech to those who need it most.

We build technical capacity through a long-term partnership process of tailored trainings, mentorship, and fellowships for young researchers and students across climate vulnerable nations. By strengthening the technical capacity of under resourced institutions on our climate frontlines, we can empower scientists to lead the way in pioneering local climate monitoring, mitigation, and adaptation solutions.

  • We partner with academic institutions and non-governmental organizations actively pursuing policy-relevant sustainable development research and projects. These institutions fall in low- or middle-income nations (LMICs) under high immediate climate risk, and broadly lack access to the technical and funding resources that are necessary for cutting-edge environmental monitoring and solutions building. Historically, we’ve centered our work in South Asia and Latin America - though we’re broadly open to partnerships across geographics under high climate risk.

  • Our curriculum co-design process relies heavily on needs assessment with our partner organizations and trainees, and iterates according to extensive focus group feedback and previous training experience. See Curriculum to learn more.

  • The design of our workshops is driven by our partners. We’ve delivered online and in-person workshops across a wide range of time frames, ranging from brief overview sessions to intensive, advanced multi-day trainings. Our workshops often rely heavily on Google Earth Engine, a cutting-edge open-source satellite analysis platform, for environmental analysis - but we teach with a range of tools based on the case study.

  • After our technical trainings conclude, we continue engagement with our trainees through consistent mentoring by local and international remote sensing experts as the trainees begin to integrate their new technologies into their work. We hold a range of office hours and mentoring sessions online and in-person, including women’s sessions to increase the comfort of participants.

  • We’re piloting a fellowship program for our undergraduate and postgraduate trainees in South India to apply their newfound skills in real-world sustainable development projects with leading environmental non-governmental organizations.
