Forest Monitoring

Our forest monitoring curriculum guides trainees in understanding how to assess forest extent and change using a range of imagery types. We evaluate forest health with vegetation indices and learn to use charting and regressions to evaluate change over time.

• Using Landsat and Sentinel imagery to map forest gain and loss

• Comparing loss and gain maps in local regions of interest with pre-set maps like Global Forest Watch data

• Calculating forest change statistics over regions of interest
